My Domain has Stopped Working!

There are a few common reasons why a domain stops working, below we will go through a few of them. If none of these reasons below apply to your domain situation feel free to submit a ticket by clicking the Support button on the right side of this article

ICANN Verification failure among others

  1. Let’s check the domain name against the WHOIS records
  2. Enter your domain in the search and hit enter
  3. If the results show as below clientHold it is very likely that you failed to verify yourself, by clicking a verification email you received sometime in the past 8 weeks from the domain registry. Any other reason for clientHold is

    Phishing/Malware Infection/Domain dispute/Incorrect Registrant Information

    Phishing: This is if you have been utilizing the domain name for nefarious purposes such as creating a false website imitating a legitimate website such as a bank

    Malware: Your website is spreading malware intentionally or unintentionally in which case it needs to be addressed and you can contact support to rectify the situation.

    Dispute: Your domain is in a dispute process called WIPO, someone believes your domain is damaging their reputation and or registered in bad faith and are challenging domain ownership.

    Incorrect Registrant Information: You have received an email from the registrar that your information on record is invalid and requires you to update it, this is not to be ignored. If you are onHold for this reason it means you neglected their request to provide the information they require to maintain your domain in good standing.

DNSSEC Record is faulty

  1. Let’s check the domain name against the WHOIS records
  2. Enter your domain in the search and hit enter
  3. If the domain results show that you have Nameservers and no clientHold like picture below


    It could suggest that you have a faulty DNSSEC record, an invalid DNSSEC record will result in nameservers being okay, domain status is okay but the domain simply will not resolve properly.
  4. Let’s check the domain record against Verisignlabs
  5. Enter the domain in the search and hit enter

    If your record results reflect similar to the above picture, It found either a DNSKEY or DS records for your domain, it is possible that the record is invalid. You may have transferred your domain to us recently or a record that no longer is valid for this domain exists and needs to be expunged. To verify this we need to remove the record for you to see if the problem resolves itself.
